Cindy Kreider Death Investigation: Authorities Probe Suspicious Death at Vail Home
VAIL, Ariz. — Authorities in Pima County are investigating the suspicious death of a 65-year-old woman who was found deceased inside her Vail home on Friday afternoon, July 24, 2026.
According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to a residence in the 13600 block of Hampden Green Way after receiving a call requesting a welfare check. Upon arrival, they discovered Cindy Kreider, 65, dead inside the home.
Due to evidence found at the scene, investigators quickly determined the case required further investigation. Members of the Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit responded and observed signs of trauma to the victim, along with additional evidence that prompted authorities to classify the death as suspicious.
As the investigation intensified, law enforcement issued a BOLO (Be On the Lookout) for a person of interest who detectives wished to question in connection with the death investigation.
According to dispatch information, the individual is described as a 38-year-old Hispanic male with a thin build, standing approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing about 150 pounds. His direction of travel is unknown. Authorities said he may be driving an unknown-colour 2003 Ford Ranger pickup truck.
Investigators have emphasised that the individual is being sought for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation. No charges have been announced, and officials have not identified any suspects or confirmed whether foul play has been definitively established.
The Pima County Office of the Medical Examiner is assisting with the investigation and will determine the official cause and manner of Kreider’s death following an autopsy and forensic examination.
The Sheriff’s Department has not released additional details regarding the circumstances surrounding Kreider’s death, including how she sustained her injuries or whether there were any signs of forced entry.
The investigation remains active, and detectives are asking anyone with information that may assist the case to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department. Anyone who may have seen the described individual or vehicle, or who has information related to the investigation, is urged to come forward.
Authorities say additional information will be released as it becomes available.
